Tiger Softball ends regular season with win

The Tekamah-Herman softball team ended their regular season with some much-needed momentum heading into Monday’s sub-district tournament.

The Tigers hosted Highway 91 in the third meeting between the two teams.  Highway 91 took the first meeting 5-4 on Saturday, September 12 at the Columbus Lakeview Invite before the Tigers avenged that with an 11-3 win one week later at the Arlington Invite.  The third meeting went down to the wire, just like the first meeting, but this time it was Tekamah-Herman on the winning end of a one-run (4-3) win on Thursday, October 1.

Payton Olson went the distance on the mound to get the win and also helped her own cause with three hits to lead the Tiger offense, including a double and a solo home run over the left centerfield fence, scoring three runs and driving in one.  Lucy Jarzynka added a couple hits, including a double while scoring one run and driving in two.  Laney Paul and Bridget Braniff also hit safely for the Tigers, with Braniff driving in a run.

The Tigers began sub-district play in the C-7 tournament in Cairo, hosted by Centura/Centura Valley on Monday, October 5 as the 3-seed, taking on Auburn at 3pm.
