FREMONT, NE (OCTOBER 2026) – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to raise  awareness about domestic violence, honor those whose lives have been impacted, remember those  we have lost, and remind survivors throughout our communities that help and support are available.

At The Bridge, we have the privilege of serving individuals and families impacted by domestic violence,  sexual assault, stalking and dating violence throughout Dodge, Burt, Cuming, Saunders and Washington  Counties. This October, we invite our community to join us in raising awareness and standing alongside  survivors.

We will begin the month by hosting a Chamber Coffee on Friday, October 9, from 9:00–10:00 a.m. at  The Bridge. We invite community members to stop by, meet our team, learn more about the services  we provide, and enjoy Nye Square’s famous cinnamon rolls with us.

We are also encouraging everyone in our communities to wear purple on Thursday, October 15, in  recognition of National Purple Thursday. Purple is the color associated with domestic violence  awareness, and wearing it is a simple but visible way to show support for survivors. We would love to  see businesses, schools, organizations, families and individuals throughout our service area join us by  wearing purple that day.

On the evening of October 15, at 6:30 p.m., we will host our annual Night of Hope at StoneBridge  Church, 1041 N. Nye Avenue in Fremont. Night of Hope is an opportunity for our community to come  together to honor survivors, remember those whose lives have been lost to domestic violence, and  recognize the strength and courage of those affected by abuse.

This year’s Night of Hope will also include a survivor sharing her story. Hearing directly from a survivor  is a powerful reminder that behind every statistic is a real person, and that there can be hope, healing  and a life beyond abuse. We hope community members will wear purple and join us for this  meaningful evening.

Domestic violence is not something that happens only somewhere else. It affects people of every age  and background, including individuals and families right here in our five-county service area. Behind every number is a neighbor, coworker, friend or family member who deserves to be safe, supported  and heard.

This October, we hope you will join us in remembering those we have lost, celebrating survivors,  supporting those who may still be struggling, and working together to create safer communities.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking or dating  violence, an advocate from The Bridge is available 24 hours a day through our Crisis Line at 1-888-721- 4340.

All services provided by The Bridge are free, confidential and available in English and Spanish.
